Discount features in Iteras

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Discounts can be set in the following ways:

  • Agreed price directly on the subscription

  • Discount directly on the subscription

  • Discount defined on the campaign

  • Optional price on the campaign

Agreed price directly on the subscription

If you have agreed on a special price on a subscription for a given customer, you can set it up as follows::

  1. Open the account menu in the top right corner > select ‘Fields

  2. Click the button ‘New field for’ and choose ‘Subscriptions’.

  3. In short name write e.g. ‘Sales price’, under ‘Type’ chooseInvoice lines

  4. Under functions, tick both “Internal use only [...]” and “Invoice lines to be invoiced [...]

  5. Under ‘Attached products’ choose the products on which it should be possible to set the discount.

  6. Optionally fill in ‘ID of the field’ if the field needs to be controlled in an external system. Finish by clicking ‘Save’. This field now exists on subscriptions.

  7. Now go to the subscription that should have a special agreed price. Click the green bar or ‘More info

  8. The subscription’s info now opens; here you click 'Edit' as shown in the image below.

  9. A new page now opens; at the bottom of the page is the field ‘Sales price’; click ‘add line’, then give the invoice line a text and enter the price.

  10. Now click ‘Save Subscription’ and you have thus given a specific subscriber a special price on the given subscription.

Discount directly on the subscription

If you want to give a fixed discount to a subscription, you should:

  1. Go to the subscriber’s page and click on the green bar for the given subscription or click on ‘More info’.

  2. The subscription info page will now open.
Here, click on ‘Edit’ as shown in the image below.

  3. A new page will open, where you can enter the discount as either an amount or a percentage. Remember to ‘Save’ after entering the discount or making any other changes.

  • Such a discount only affects the specific subscription it is entered on.

  • The discount rate is shown on invoices.

  • It carries over with the subscription into future periods, regardless of whether it continues on the same or a different campaign. Such a discount never expires.

  • It can only be given to private subscriptions – not to group subscriptions or group recipients.

Discount defined on the campaign

If there is a specific group of subscribers who should have a discount, you can define this on the campaign itself. This is practical, because it also helps keep the number of different campaigns down.

As a rule, these customers will be marked in their subscriber profile as having data in a custom field. You can then make the discount line on the campaign conditional so that the discount is only given to these selected customers:

Discounts on invoice lines can be set anywhere there are invoice lines, e.g. in campaigns, subscriptions and business policies.

Optional price on the campaign

This method for setting an optional price is being phased out. Instead, it is recommended to use the method described in the guide "Agreed price directly on subscription". Read more in the first part of the guide on this page.

Alternatively, the campaign can be set to allow price changes. This function is practical if you regularly negotiate the price with your customers.

The subscription price is changed under “Edit subscription”, as shown in the screenshot above.

  • With optional pricing, the subscription can be made either more expensive or cheaper.

  • There will not be a discount line on the invoice.

  • Price changes only affect the individual subscription where the price was changed.

  • The adjusted price carries over to the next period on the same campaign. If the campaign is changed, the subscription will follow the new campaign price.

  • Campaign pricing can be changed on both private and group subscriptions as well as recipient subscriptions.
