Does Iteras set cookies – and do we need to disclose it?

Updated yesterday

To avoid cookie-related concerns, Iteras only sets and reads strictly necessary functional cookies, and only at the user’s initiative:

  • When logging in to self-service, for example via an iframe, a cookie is set on app.iteras.dk as proof of login – this cookie lasts a maximum of one hour or until the browser is closed.

  • When using Iteras’ paywall, a cookie is set on your own domain (e.g., danskekommuner.dk) as proof of access. This cookie lasts up to 30 days and is automatically renewed.

In both cases, these are technical necessities for delivering the service. Without these two cookies, you would have to log in for every single page view, for example, each time you look at a new article.

As we interpret §4 of the cookie regulation, these two cookies are therefore not covered by §3 of the cookie regulation, meaning it is not necessary to either inform about or obtain consent for their use. But if you want to be completely sure, consult a lawyer.
